Patrinia monandra (Valerian family)
Tall self-supporting stems carry layers of umbel-shaped flower heads in a striking yellow which fades to chartreuse green as the flowers go to seed. They are wonderful to pick at all these stages, which gives it a long harvesting window. Can tolerate partial shade.
The shape and colour of the flowers make it an enhancing, supporting element from mid to late summer.
Easy to grow from seed, can self-seed too.
