Malope trifida – ‘Vulcan’
The raspberry pink mallow flowers have luxurious satin-like petals and a striking star-shaped green centre. Fresh apple green foliage on tall stems which are both long in flower and in the vase. One of my must haves for wedding work as it is a useful supporting flower for large scale arrangements and installation work.

Growing tips: start seeds in modules in the greenhouse and plant out once the danger of frost has passed, despite being hardy they are susceptible. Can also be direct sown in April/May for an August/September harvest.
Harvesting/Arranging tips: pick when a couple of flowers are open on each stem.
Vase life: 10 days
