Inspiring Flower Photography with Éva Németh
£180.00
Well known amongst discerning garden designers, flower growers and florists for her atmospheric images of gardens, flowers and the people that work with them, Éva Németh’s photographic style is unmistakable, we can always pick out her work in the pages of the leading garden and lifestyle magazines. It was working on a six month series for House and Garden that first brought her to Green and Gorgeous and we have collaborated on various shoots ever since including my book – The Cut Flower Soucebook. Consequently Eva knows every nook, cranny and angle of the farm and at peak flowering time in July you will be spoilt for choice on subject matter.
Having photographed many flower themed books and worked with the country’s leading floral stylists, Eva will share all her photography and styling knowledge on how to be creative with your camera and bring out the best in flowers both as they grow and in a more styled environment.
“In this class, we’ll spend the day discovering and discussing photography techniques in one of the country’s most beautiful flower farms. We will learn about such things as that all-important aperture setting (or f-stop) and how the clever use of it will help you create stunning images. I will talk about how to combine good composition with lighting, shutter speed, ISO and all sorts of other technical bits and pieces to help you master photographing flowers. I will also show you how I typically work and what equipment I use.”
The day begins with a presentation of Eva’s flower photography, where she’ll share tips and tricks for how she captures her atmospheric images using natural light. You will then have the opportunity to put these techniques into practice on a variety of arrangements created by Rachel in different settings around the farm. The aim is to work with contrasting light conditions and colour backgrounds to help you find the best spots to photograph your flowers in your own studio or home.
After a home cooked lunch, using produce from the kitchen garden, Eva will create one of her signature flat lays and share with you her favourite backdrops and techniques to capture them.
She will end the day with an introduction to Lightroom – where you’ll learn how to edit and finesse your images. We have personally gained so much from this post-processing sessions and it has made a huge difference to our photography, not only in post processing skills but it has also informed us on how to set up shots.
