Description
Setaria viridis ‘Caramel’ – Foxtail millet
One of our bestselling cut grasses, everyone seems to love these soft, little foxtail-shaped flower heads in a warm, caramel. As a millet it is also very popular with our resident sparrows. This is an unusual variety which is rarely offered.
Plant type: half hardy annual
Site: full sun
Height: 80cm
Plant spacing: 25cm
Sown to grown: 20 weeks
Min. seeds per packet: 100 seeds
Growing tips: sow 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Self seeds prolifically so clear crop promptly at the end of the season.
Harvesting/Arranging tips: the flower heads are small enough to work in as a gestural finishing flourish, enhancing the other flower without dominating which I find some of the other millets do.
